Ground Zero, a google map mapplet that let you “blow up” entire cities without killing a single soul with nuclear warheads and even a earth-destroying asteriod is created by Carlos Labs. Just click anywhere on the map and drop the bomb and see the area affected by the blast.

Google map mapplet are mini-applications running within google map that add new functions or overlay your own datas on google map. Ground Zero is just one of many examples of what google map and some javascript could do with mapplet.

There’s even an updated version now called Ground Zero II that give you even more information on the aftereffect of the city that you just obliterated. See it in action below.
